    FEC approved N3.49 billion building project for the Aviation Ministry

    The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a sum of N3,491,622,340 for the Ministry of Aviation to purchase a property at Plot 426, Cadastral Zone, opposite the Corporate Affairs Commission, to serve as its main office.

    President Muhammadu Buhari presided over a federal cabinet meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, and Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed announced it while briefing State House reporters after the meeting.
    He claimed that the property would allow the ministry to house many of its agencies in one location, rather than renting space.

    “Apart from the fact that it prevents good coordination of activities, this is a drain on government,” he continued.

    According to Mohammed, the council also approved the award of a contract worth N553, 575, 000 to Msssrs Sinecon Limited for the establishment and deployment of Advanced Report Generation Utility Engine web-based reporting tools, with a 12-month delivery period.

    According to him, the technology would help the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) establish and develop an advanced report generation system.

    He went on to say that the web reporting tool would encourage investigators to produce more visual content over time, with an integrated option to develop 3D flight animations to communicate the history of flights hosted on plane sciences services in Ottawa, Canada.

    According to Mohammed, the council approved an upward revision of the original contract sum for the construction of the 132 KV double circuit 232km transmission line connecting Yola, Song, Gombe, Mubi, and Gulako, stressing that it was critical to the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s ability to will power generated by GENCOs.

    “The contract was previously awarded, but due to a lack of funds and other obstacles, it had to be revised from the original USD $16 million plus N1.248 billion to now the same $16,698,000 but N2,337,643,640,” he said.

    The minister added that the FEC approved N409,089,841 for the repair and refurbishment of defective nine sets of 330 KV, 13 sets of 132 KV, and 26 sets of 33 KV Crompton grips circuit breakers for the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

    “After more than 35 years, some of these circuit breakers are weak,” he said.

    The Minister of Agriculture’s memo requesting approval for a national agricultural technology innovation policy was approved, according to Mohammed.

    “It is a policy that aims to improve synergy and alignment with MDAs in order to overcome inadequate policy implementation coordination,” he says.

    Bandits attacked Dabaibayawa village in Batagarawa and Dankiri village in Dutsinma Local Government Area, according to the Katsina State Police Command.

    SP Gambo Isah, the Command’s spokesperson, revealed this while speaking to reporters in Katsina on Wednesday.

    SP Isah also revealed that the command had killed six suspected terrorists, recovered an AK-47 rifle, 110 cows, and 242 sheep and goats.

    “On May 17, 2022, a distress call was received indicating that a group of terrorists attacked Dantakiri village in Dutsinma LGA and rustled an unknown number of domestic animals.

    “Area Commander Dutsinma led teams of cops and vigilantes to Mararabar-Sayaya, Matazu LGA, and stopped the terrorists.

    “The teams engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle, neutralised six terrorists, and recovered 86 cows, 101 sheep, and 101 goats.”

    “One AK 47 rifle was also discovered during the investigation.” Some terrorists may have escaped with gunshot wounds.
    On the same day, another distress call was received, stating that a group of terrorists armed with AK 47 rifles attacked the farm of rtd AIG Lawal Mani in Dabaibayawa village, robbing all of the domestic animals.

    “The Anti Kidnapping Unit, DPOs of Batagarawa and Batsari were alerted to pursue and block the hoodlums as they were moving towards Rugu forest with the rustled animals,” he said.

    “As a result, the team was successful in capturing them at Kandawa village in Batsari LGA.

    “The team engaged the terrorists in a fierce gunfight, successfully repelling them while also recovering all of the rustled domestic animals, which included 24 cows and 141 goats and sheep. “We’re still looking into it.”

    According to a police spokesperson, the command has busted car theft gangs and recovered stolen vehicles.

    He went on to say that they also arrested a suspected terrorist who admitted to taking part in several attacks on villages in the state’s Safana LGA.

    Shehu Sani praises police for apprehend alleged killers of Corps member, Stephanie

    Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker, has expressed satisfaction with the Federal Capital Territory Police Command’s efforts to apprehend suspected criminal elements in the murder of Stephanie Terungwa.

    Stephanie, a National Youth Service Corps member, was recently discovered dead after her family reported her missing.

    The FCT Command launched an investigation into her death to determine the cause of her death, and three suspects were arrested after confessing to the crime.

    Jenifer Tsembe, Monday Simon (a.k.a. Black), and Solomon Abu were paraded at the Command’s office on Monday over the incident.

    In a tweet on his official Twitter handle, the former lawmaker, who is now a governorship aspirant in Kaduna State under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, commended the police.

    “The arrest of suspects linked to the kidnapping and murder of Youth Corper Stephanie Terungwa deserves commendation,” he wrote.

    In six Local Government Areas of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has imposed an indefinite and total ban on the operation of commercial motorcycles known as ‘Okada.’

    Sanwoolu’s order comes after a Sound Engineer was beaten to death and set on fire by some Okada riders over a N100 change in the state’s Lekki area a few days ago.

    On Wednesday, the Governor issued an order to all Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders in the state.
