The Federal Government arraigned Ahmed Idris, a former Accountant General of the Federation, and two others before Justice Adeyemi Ajayi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court on Friday.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission also charged Godfrey Olusegun Akindele, Mohammed Kudu Usman, and Gezawa Commodity Market and Exchange Ltd. The defendants are being charged with 14 counts of stealing and criminal breach of trust totaling N109, 485,572,691.9.
The EFCC claimed that between February and December 2021 in Abuja, Ahmed Idris, as the Accountant General of the Federation, accepted a gratification in the sum of N15,136,221,921.46 (Fifteen Billion, One Hundred and Thirty Six Million, Two Hundred and Twenty One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Twenty One Naira and Forty Six Kobo) from Olusegun Akindele, which sum was converted to US dollars by the said

The prosecution is represented by Rotimi Jacobs SAN, and the first defendant is represented by Chief Chris Uche SAN (Idris).
