How commercial driver kills LASTMA officer in Lagos

The management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), has confirmed the killing of their staff member by some mini-bus drivers at the Anthony bus stop area of the state.

The LASTMA additionally stated one other staff sustained serious wounds during the assault, which it stated, was orchestrated by suspected cultists masquerading as drivers of commercial mini-buses.

Obasi Segun was killed by a mob, in addition to Adeniyi Hakeem, whereas closing from work on Tuesday.

It was learnt that seven of the suspected killers were, however, arrested and handed over to the police.

The general manager of the LASTMA, Mr Olajide Oduyoye, who confirmed the unlucky incident, additionally condemned it in strong terms.

Oduyoye stated the deceased was allegedly attacked with machetes and other dangerous weapons by the driver of a commercial bus with registration number FKJ 452 YC, plying Bariga to Oshodi through Ikorodu road, in cohorts with another driver, after the stated vehicle was apprehended for contravening the traffic laws of the state.

He warned that any traffic violation could be punished as authorised by the Lagos State House of Assembly.
