BREAKING: Gunmen Attack Private University In Kaduna, Kidnap Pupils

The academic establishment, Green Field University, is located along the Kaduna–Abuka Highway at Chikun Local Government Area, as well as the first private university in the nation, established three years back.

The most recent incident is the first major assault that bandits will launch on communities across the Kaduna-Abuja Highway since 300 female soldiers have been set to the overall place in January this year.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the incident to Channels Television.

However, eyewitnesses, said the gunmen stormed the university last night and began shooting sporadically, prior to shooting some of the students away.

The locals said that the university with about forty students population does not have enough security on the floor, despite being found in one of the epicentres of kidnapping, a scenario which they believe made it easier for its bandits to obtain easy entry to the establishment.

Recently, Kaduna was confronting series of attacks by bandits including assaults on colleges.

On March 11th, they assaulted the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization Afaka in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state and kidnapped 39 pupils.

While ten from this number have been released, the fate of the rest of the ones still hangs in the balance.
