LG Chairman Escapes Death As Youths Abducted Two BEDC Officials

WARRI — Youths at Mosogar Community in Ethiope West Local Government Area at Delta State have assaulted the Chairman of this Council, Hon. Oghenedoro Owoso, more than what they described as continuing power outage in the community, which makes away with just two riffles and injuring a policeman and an aide to the chairman.

The youths who had been protesting eight years of power blackout were reported to have abducted two officers of their Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), for hours before security guys stormed their hideout to place free the Distribution firm officials.

Mosogar Community was without electricity for the past eight years, a problem that has resulted in protest against the neighbourhood in November this past year and thousands of inhabitants taking to Benin — Warri highway in protest last month, barricading the significant highway for hours.

Trouble was stated to have begun after a number of those youths who likely were fed up with all the endless promise from the community leaders to restore electricity to them and has continued to neglect, abducted two BEDC officials that had been on patrol.

Anthony Akpotobor who claimed to have seen the incident told journalists that”following the officers were abducted, they tried to induce them to fuse the light, the police were informed, and also the Mosogar Divisional Police Officer (DPO), achieved to the chairman of this council, who subsequently drove in to pacify them that was when he had been assaulted.”

Among Owoso’s aide, who craved anonymity additionally relayed to journalists his boss passed during that path because he believed he could reestablish them.

“We attacked us disarmed one of those policemen attached to the chairman and in the process, one of the chairman’s aide had been captured and the cellular policeman was injured. Another aide to the Chairman and a cellular policeman was abducted and taken away into some shrine close to the river and they were about taking them using a boat through the lake when security men came to rescue them”

Hon. Owoso, while affirming the attack told journalists that his automobile was captured. “My Lady, we should thank God, there are ways to push their grievances across, some of them have been arrested but allow them to attract the arms, what’s about dialogue that was why I went to appeal to them, so that we can jointly map out ways so They Can have light” he explained
