In Lagos State, gunmen wearing masks kidnapped a former Chief of Logistics for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Sikiru Oladimeji Smith (rtd).
The incident occurred on Monday evening in Ajah, where the victim was reportedly working on a construction site.
CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident when contacted.
“We are aware of the abduction and we are on it,” said the PPRO, who was unable to provide further details about the incident.
Similarly, Corporal Odiji, the victim’s driver who raised the alarm in an audio recording on Tuesday morning, said the gunmen shot randomly before whisking his boss away to an unknown destination.
“Please, this is an emergency,” he said. I’m Corporal Odiji, and I’m a member of AVM Smith’s team. Oga had recently been relocated from the construction site where we were working. Some masked gunmen arrived and dragged him away from the scene.

“They fired shots all over the place and took him away. I happened to be nearby when he asked me to fix his car. I’m his chauffeur. As I was returning, I noticed them on a boat navigating the water. I didn’t have any weapons on me. So I dashed to the scene and discovered Oga’s glasses, as well as the spot where he struggled with them before they removed him.”
