Leo Mezie, a well-known Nollywood actor, died at the age of 46. He was born Leonard Chimezie Onyemachi and died on Saturday while recovering after a kidney transplant, according to reports.
Chioma Toplis, the actor’s coworker, revealed his death on Monday via her Instagram account. According to Toplis, the actor died in an Abuja hospital.
“Actor Leo Mezie is dead,” Toplis wrote in the description part of a photo of Leo Mezie. While recovering from a kidney transplant, he died on Saturday in Abuja. His body was returned to his hometown of Umuahia. RIP Leo.”
Leo Mezie debuted in the Nigerian film industry in 1996, but his breakthrough came in 2003, when he starred in the film Labista.

Maureen, the actor’s girlfriend, married him in 2010. In 2016, the actor revealed that he had a kidney condition to his friends and fans, and they rallied around him, so he underwent surgery in London.
Unfortunately, the illness resurfaced in 2019, and the actor was sent to a Lagos hospital for treatment.
