Doyin Okupe has been proposed as Peter Obi’s running mate by the Labour Party.
However, it was discovered that Okupe’s name was submitted in order to beat the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) June 17 deadline for political parties.
Okupe, the Director-General of the Peter Obie Campaign, will serve as a placeholder until the party’s stakeholders agree on a suitable vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.
The party previously stated that its Vice President would be from the north.
