insecurity: Archbishop Chukwuma calls for revolution, Buhari’s resignation

Against the backdrop of rising insecurity in Nigeria, His Grace, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has warned that a revolution is on the way to drive out those who are holding the country back.

The call was made during the Archbishop’s pre-Synod press conference on Tuesday, according to reports.

He also demanded that the Federal Government, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, resign if it is unable to solve the country’s security problems.

“Nigerians should prepare for a revolution, enough is enough,” Chukwuma said, while noting that the church is deeply concerned about the state of the country.

“This is due to Nigeria’s security situation; kidnappings and assassinations have become commonplace.”

“Nigerians have had enough insults, poverty, and suffering for the past 23 years.” So much has been assumed of them.

“The Buhari administration has done insufficient to safeguard the people. I say this because the Buhari administration has killed more people than any other government in the world.

“The primary goal of government is to provide security, but Nigeria has become a safe haven for criminals, insurgents, bandits, kidnappers, and killers, all of whom are on the loose.”

“The church is dissatisfied, angry, and crying out for a revolution, a new Nigeria.” These old cargoes should give the youths a chance because they have reached the end of their usefulness.

“I’ve said it before: if Buhari can’t find a way to stop the killings, the country’s leadership should resign.”

He also accused security agencies of applying a double standard when it came to solving security issues.

“What happened at Kaduna Airport, as well as the train attack,” he claims, “should make the government aware that these terrorists have crossed the red line.”

“However, how can we have battalions of soldiers but they are unable to stop terrorism because there is military deception?” What’s keeping them from going into the woods, when all they’re doing is attending a seminar?

“After so many years of toleration by Nigerian Christians, it’s time to put an end to it.” Christians should all stand up. Although the Owo incident is shocking, the government’s sympathies are insufficient.

“If they were able to apprehend Nnamdi Kanu, why is it so difficult to apprehend the people who are murdering our people in every city?” The security services aren’t being honest with you.”

With their Permanent Voter’s Cards, or PVCs, he charged the youths to rise up and reclaim the country.

“There is a surge in the number of people seeking PVC because they want to vote out expired leaders.”

“The young Nigerians should vote out these old cargoes with their PVCs.” Vote out thievery, corruption, and all other forms of bad governance. “Youths must rise up; they will decide the election in 2023, and any attempt to rig the election will result in revolution,” he warned.

He expressed concern about the rising number of Christians being kidnapped and killed across the country, urging Christians to find a way to defend themselves.

He stated that an Islamization agenda was clearly in place, but that Christians would continue to oppose it.

President Buhari’s anti-corruption stance, according to Archbishop Chukwuma, has been seriously harmed by the case involving the Accountant General of the Federation.

“We’re discussing N80b here.” Under the Buhari administration, this is the pinnacle. He added, “We need to know what happened to the N80b, and he should be prosecuted and imprisoned.”

He didn’t spare the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing them of allowing injustice to flourish by refusing to give the South-East presidential tickets.

“Feeding the Sheep,” he revealed as the synod’s theme.

“We live in a world where people are hungry, and the church has a role to play in that.” We’re supposed to feed the sheep rather than eat them. “During the synod, this will be emphasised,” he said.
