During a kidnapping operation at Boto, a village in the Tafawa Balewa LGA of the State, the Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of one Mua’zu Danladi, a 25-year-old man.
According to reports, the village is where Ahmed Adamu Muazu, a former state governor, is from.
The Command has also confirmed that three people were taken during the operation, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday, July 13.
The PPRO of the Command, SP Ahmed Wakili, confirmed the kidnapping but added that the abductors attacked the village at around 1.30 am, shooting sporadically to fend off any counterattack, before fleeing with the victims and killing one person in the process.
He added that the Police Commissioner, Umar Sanda, immediately gave the Tafawa Balewa Division’s DPO the go-ahead to get to work after receiving a distress call from a person reporting that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers had entered Boto village.
The gunmen had already left with the victims, he continued, when the DPO mobilised his men and rushed to the village.
In search of the criminals, our men are currently searching the bushes. We’ll find them, apprehend them, and prosecute them, in the name of Allah, he declared.
