Three people killed in another mass shooting in US, two others injured

At least three people were killed and two others were injured in an Indiana mall in the United States of America on Sunday evening after a man with a rifle opened fire in a food court and was shot and killed by an armed civilian.

According to the Associated Press, Greenwood Park Mall Chief Jim Ison stated that the man entered the mall with a rifle and several magazines of ammunition and began firing in the food court.

According to Ison, the gunman was shot and killed by a 22-year-old man from nearby Bartholomew County who was legally carrying a firearm at the mall.

According to Ison, four of those hit by gunfire were females, while one was male. He didn’t know the gender or age of those killed right away.

He stated that one of the two injured was a 12-year-old girl, who is in stable condition.

According to Ison, police seized a suspicious backpack from a bathroom near the food court.

Officers responded to the mall shortly after 6 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.

“The real hero of the day is the citizen who was lawfully carrying a firearm in that food court and was able to stop the shooter almost immediately,” said Ison.

The mass shooting was not the only thing that made Americans nervous in 2022. In recent months, Highland Park, Illinois, schools, churches, grocery stores, and a July 4th parade have all become killing grounds. Nonetheless, the reality of America’s staggering murder rate is often more clearly seen in individual deaths that rarely make the news.

The investigation is being assisted by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and a number of other agencies.

“Yet another type of incident like this in our country sickens us,” said Indianapolis Assistant Chief of Police Chris Bailey.

Authorities stated that there was no threat to the area on Sunday night.

Greenwood is an Indianapolis south suburb with a population of around 60,000 people. “Prayers to the victims and our first responders,” Mayor Mark Myers requested.

In a statement, Myers said, “This tragedy strikes at the heart of our community.”

Authorities stated that they would provide more information on Monday.
