Three traditional worshippers who had gone to a river along the Benin-Abraka road for rituals were abducted and whisked into the forest on Monday by suspected kidnappers.
The incident occurred on Monday, July 25, 2022, around 1pm, according to a statement issued by the Command’s Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, on Tuesday.
“The Command received a complaint that hoodlums suspected of being kidnappers accosted and whisked into the bush three traditional worshippers who had gone to a river along the Benin-Abraka road for prayers,” the statement said.
Upon receiving the information, [the] Divisional Police Officer Ugo immediately mobilised his operatives to the scene in hot pursuit of the hoodlums and possible rescue of the victims.

“The hoodlums, sensing the presence of the operatives on their tail, were forced to abandon their victims and flee into the bush.”
“The victims have since been reunited with their families.” Meanwhile, intensive bush-combing is still being conducted in order to neutralise or arrest the hoodlums.”
