Boderi Isiya, a notorious bandit leader, has narrowly escaped capture, while his lethal second-in-command, Musti, has been killed by troops.
Several other terrorists were reportedly killed by soldiers in a recent operation.
Musti and Boderi were allegedly responsible for a security breach at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna in 2021, as well as the kidnappings of students from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, the Emir of Bungudu in Zamfara State, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, and several other citizens.
The troops engaged the bandits in the Tollgate general area of Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area (LGA). The bandits fled, only to run into another ambush set up by troops in the Sabon Gida area.
The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai praised the troops for the feat.
Other slain terrorists in the operation include one Yellow Mai-Madrid and Dan-Katsinawa.
Weapons were recovered from the scene.
