Agosasa: Gov Abiodun vows to arrest sponsors, perpetrators of violence

Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, has vowed to pursue the sponsors and perpetrators of the obaship crisis that claimed lives and property in Agosasa, Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.

It was reported yesterday that three people died on Monday after some angry youths set fire to houses and cars.

The youths were protesting the alleged efforts of some local politicians to impose an unpopular candidate as the next Oja of Agosasa.

Abiodun condemned the violence in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, on Wednesday, declaring that anyone found culpable in the skirmish would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the state’s existing laws.

He reiterated that his administration would not allow breakdown of law and order, vowing that perpetrators of the Agosasa mayhem would not go unpunished.

The governor, while calling for calm in the town, said he had directed the police in the state to restore peace in the town, ensure normalcy and fish out those behind the violence with the view of prosecuting them accordingly.

He, however, assured the residents of Agosasa that adequate security will be provided, urging them to remain calm and go about their normal businesses without fear.
