Under the aegis of Operation Hadin Kai, Nigerian Army troops blasted a convoy of Abubakar Sarki, a Boko Haram commander, in Sambisa forest, killing scores of militants who were with him.
According to sources, the offensive was coordinated by Maj Gen Waidi Shaibu, General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander Sector 1 North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Yuwe, Konduga Local Government Area, Borno State.
After seeing 8 moving convoys carrying Abubakar Sarki and unconfirmed numbers of militants in severe hits, the Army was alleged to have deployed a large artillery battery.

According to the source, Abubakar Sarki and his crew were travelling toward Abu-camp Ubaida’s based on intelligence information in order to combat rival militants from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in a battle for supremacy.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-intelligence expert familiar with terrorist actions in Lake Chad, corroborated the artillery bombing of the BH Commander’s convoy.
“A ground examination verified that three guntrucks were entirely destroyed with all of their occupants, but the remaining five vehicles, including Abubakar Sarki, escaped,” the source claimed.
The terrorists, however, aborted the mission and evacuated the dead and wounded fighters to the axis between Pulka and Banki, according to the source.
