    BREAKING: Nigerian Ambassador to US, Sylvanus Nsofor is dead

    The Nigerian ambassador to the United States of America, Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor is Lifeless, ThisDay reports.

    Nsofor expired on Thursday at Maryland hospital, Washington DC at Age 85.

    Nsofor, a retired justice of Nigeria’s Court of Appeal, assumed office since Nigeria’s ambassador to the USA on November 13, 2017.

    He triumphed Prof. Adebowale Adefuye, who died towards the end of his tenure since Nigeria’s ambassador to the United States.

    Nsofor graduated from London’s now-defunct Holborn College of Law in 1962.

    President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Director-General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Dr Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu.

    Dr Argungu was relieved of his post in a memo issued last week Friday, December 4, 2020, taking effect from Monday, December 7.

    According to a statement issued by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, President Buhari has also led the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barr Festus Keyamo (SAN), to appoint an Acting Director-General from the senior Managers of the bureau to substitute Argungu in the meantime.

    “President Muhammadu Buhari has relieved Dr. Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu in the position of this Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment. The directive that was awarded on Friday, the 4th of December, 2020, will be to be effective from Monday, December 7th, 2020.

    “Meanwhile, the Supervising Minister of this Agency, the Hon Minister of State, Labour and Employment, was led to nominate an Acting DG from one of the very Senior Directors according to competencies and seniority to take over from Dr. Argungu until a substantive holder of the post is appointed by Mr. President” the statement said.

    BREAKING: Suspected Ibadan Serial Killer, Sunday Shodipe, Rearrested

    THE suspected Ibadan serial killer, Sunday Shodipe, has been rearrested by operatives of the Oyo State police command.
    The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the development to the Tribune Online.
    SP Fadeyi said: “The suspect has been rearrested and is currently in police custody.”
    Shodipe (19), who is suspected to have killed about six women at Akinyele Local Government Area of the state, escaped from the Mokola police station on Tuesday, August 11.
    This prompted a wave of protests against the police, but the state Commissioner of Police, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, had assured that everything had been put in place to ensure the rearrest of the suspect.
    Just last Thursday, an N500,000 bounty was placed on Shodipe’s head by the police.

    Udu Central Guard “A” arrested a wanted criminal on Sunday night who has been on the watch list of the security agency for the past three years.

    The suspect was identified as Oke Olodi Acha, also known as Sharp.

    The 30-year-old suspect was arrested in Asjam, in Dulu, Udu District, Delta, Delta State.

    The suspects who specifically killed Okada men and stole motorcycles were immediately handed over to the police in Ovian at the headquarters of Aradia for further interrogation and possible prosecution.

    When contacted for comments, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
    It was learnt that the suspect is an indigene and a “fighter” of Oghior community in their ongoing boundary dispute with Ukpiovwinc community in Udu LGA.

    Meanwhile, community leaders and some lawyers have been calling for his release from police custody, saying he was being set up by the security agencies.

    He said,” he has been arrested. He is already in the wanted list of the police for robbery and killing of one cyclist at Udu.”

    BREAKING: Kwara Governor loses dad

    The first lawyer from the Northern part of the country and father of Kwara State Governor, Alh. Abdulganiyu Folorunsho  Abdulrasaq is dead.

    Popularly known as AGF, he died in the early hours of Saturday in Lagos.

    He passed away less than four months to his 93rd birthday.

    Apart from being Nigeria’s Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, he was the first Commissioner of Finance for Kwara State after the state was created  in 1967.

    He was President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange from 2000 – 2003 and Vice-President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange from 1983 – 2000.

    He is survived by his wife Raliat; Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq; Dr. Alimi Abdulrasaq, a former Executive Director of NNPC; Isiaka Abdulrasaq;  Sen. Khairat Gwadabe and a former First Lady of Kwara  State, Hajiya Aishat Lawal.

    Arrangements are being made to fly his corpse to Ilorin for burial later today.

    A statement by Dr. Alimi Abdulrazaq reads: “With total submission to the will of the Almighty Allah, the AbdulRazaqs of Ilorin Emirate of Kwara State hereby announce the passing of their patriarch and statesman Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Folorunsho Abdul-Razaq SAN (OFR) at the age of 93 in  Abuja. He was born in 1927.

    ” The Mutawali of Ilorin and Tafida of Zazzau(Zaria), who was Chairman of the Nigerian Body of Benchers, died peacefully at about 2am on Saturday July 25th, 2020(the 4th day of Dhul-Hijjah 1441 AH.)

    “The first lawyer from the Northern Region is survived by his 90-year-old wife Alhaja Raliat AbdulRazaq, illustrious children (including incumbent Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq), and grandchildren.

    ” Arrangement for his interment will be announced by the family shortly.”
