Five suspected armed robbers killed in Delta after a gunfight with police

Five suspected armed robbers were killed in a gun battle with police officers from the “B” Division in Warri, Delta State.

According to reports, the suspects who sustained serious gunshot wounds died before reaching the hospital.

The police also recovered two (2) locally made cut-to-size single barrel guns, three (03) rounds of expended cartridges, three rounds of live cartridges, and one dagger from the suspects.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammad Ali, made the announcement today at a press conference in Asaba.

According to the police chief, the police on Aberdeen patrol along lower Erejuwa Street in Warri received a distress call that a suspected gang of armed robbers was terrorising Igbudu market/old welfare.

According to him,”The teams acting on this information, swiftly moved to the scene, where the hoodlums on sighting the police engaged them in a gun duel, during which five of the hoodlums sustained serious gunshot injuries.”

While noting that the suspects died before getting to the hospital, CP Ali said, “Investigation is ongoing.”
