Police arrested seven suspects, including15-year-old, in connection with Bauchi community disturbance

Police in Bauchi State have arrested seven suspects, including a 15-year-old boy, in connection with a disturbance that occurred last Friday in the Gudum Hausawa area of Bauchi metropolis.

In a press release signed and made available in Bauchi on Tuesday, the state police command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, revealed this.

The attack by hoodlums on a wedding send-off ceremony held by a retired police officer, Ezra Yari, in honour of his daughter in the area was reported on Monday.

According to the PPRO, some thugs hijacked the occasion, entered the bride’s father’s house, and used dangerous weapons such as machetes and knives to injure some youths, killing two teenagers, Gift Felix (17) and Shalon Memdir (18), at the Bauchi Specialist Hospital.

According to the PPRO, the command’s operatives arrested one Ukasha Abdulsalam, a 24-year-old resident of Unguwar Doya, Zaranda village, Toro Local Government Area of the state, for impersonating a senior Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officer, based on credible information.

“The suspect impersonated a senior officer in the Nigerian Air Force to defraud innocent citizens in Bauchi State,” said SP Wakil.

“Sometime in the year 2020, the suspect defrauded a prominent Dass LGA figure by giving his children an appointment/slot and collecting money from them.” In Ganjuwa LGA, the suspect defrauded one Hussaini Kafi’m’ of Kafin-Madaki of N100,000 by promising him a position in the Nigerian Air Force.

“Earlier this month, the suspect defrauded one Luci Ezekiel ‘f’ of GRA Bauchi of N280,000 for an appointment/slot in the Nigerian Air Force.”

He stated that during interrogation, the suspect admitted to committing the crime.
