Security Commanders Meet With FCTA To Discuss Enforcement Strategies

Both the Joint Taskforce and the Command and Control Secretariat have met with the Authority of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

The meeting was reportedly convened in response to the necessity to increase the enforcement of laws and norms of engagement while dealing with city clean-up and other criminal conduct in the city.

Ikharo Attah, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Monitoring, Inspection, and Enforcement, addressed the participants, saying that the operational methods needed to be reviewed and the team made more efficient in addressing the ills that endanger Abuja’s overall development.

He explained that the various components of the joint task force and the other squad must work together to deliver the desired results to the city.

While sharing the Minister’s praise for the team’s efforts and dedication to duty, Attah also reminded them that ministerial directions to preserve human rights during enforcement remain non-negotiable.

The Minister, he claims, wants security and order to be maintained throughout the territory, but not at the expense of law-abiding citizens’ rights.

CSP Yusuf Bala, Commander of Security Agencies under the Command and Control Unit, offered the support of all officers under his command to the reviewed operational tactics during his speech.

He also encouraged the Minister of the FCT to contribute greater resources to the Taskforce’s operating needs.

The Taskforce’s Commander, Solomon Adebayo, who acknowledged that the city’s enforcement activities have been difficult, also urged the relevant authorities to improve the welfare of officers.

Officers’ trust can be increased, according to Adebayo, if the government prioritises their wellbeing in its plans.
