Security personnel in Abuja arrested an ad hoc staff member of a COVID-19 Vaccination Centre for issuing fake vaccination cards to some international travellers.
Mal Mohammad Ohitoto, the NPHCDA’s Head of Public Relations, announced this in a statement on Monday.
Before his arrest, Dauda Abu-Huraira worked as a recorder at the COVID-19 vaccination site at Wuse General Hospital in Abuja.
Abu-Huraira was caught charging clients fees and issuing fake cards without going through the vaccination process.
However, unbeknownst to the suspect, the NPHDA has put in place a foolproof and watertight system that is nearly impossible to breach, according to Ohitoto.

“The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib, has warned that mechanisms are firmly in place to arrest and prosecute all persons involved in issuing fake COVID-19 vaccination cards anywhere in Nigeria,” the statement said.
According to him, Shuaib praised the country’s security personnel for their professionalism in apprehending the suspect.
The NPHCDA chief also praised the Port Health Officers for their assistance in such efforts.
Ohitot stated that a few perpetrators had previously been arrested in connection with the offence and were already facing the consequences of their actions.
In their own best interests, he urged people to refrain from obtaining fake ID cards without first completing the vaccination process.
