Two victims attacked OPC to avenge their members’ death in cult group clash

The country said yesterday the two persons died in a struggle between suspected cultists and members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) in Owo, Owo local government area.

 

Other sources said five men were killed, and several wounded in the confrontation, which happened at Idasen and Ijebu region of Owo.

 

Some residents were hit by stray bullets, it was stated.

 

Witnesses said business activities were paralysed in the area.

 

The cult set of these two victims assaulted OPC to avenge their associates’ departure.

Many members of OPC including their chief allegedly fled to the bush after the conflict.

 

 

Chairman of the local authorities Olabade Adegbegi cautioned troublemakers to avoid the area.

 

Police spokesman Tee-Leo Ikoro, who supported the incident, said two persons were killed and several others injured.

 

He said safety operatives have taken full charge of the area.

 

The traditional ruler of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, the Olowo of Owo, last year threatened to curse those who refused to nullify cultism in his domain name.
