12 people lost their lives in Plateau village vigilante attacks on bandits

In Zak community, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, there have been 12 fatalities as a result of fighting between vigilantes and bandits.

Nine bandits and three vigilantes were killed as a result of the incident, which took place around 9 am on Sunday.

Major Ishaku Takwa, a spokesman for Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security taskforce that maintains peace in the State, was unable to provide an exact number of those impacted but did confirm the incident.

The troops repelled the attack, he said, explaining this.

Residents of Wase’s Sabon Zama, Gindin Dutse, Anguwan Tsohon Soldier, Anguwan Yuhana, and Anguwan Mangu villages reportedly received quit notices from bandits stating that they must leave their communities immediately or risk being involved in a war.

According to reports, a large number of residents in the impacted areas fled to Wase town out of fear for their safety after receiving quit notices.

The location of the incident, Zak, is about 40 kilometres from Wase Town, the seat of the Wase Local Government Area of the State, which is where the incident took place.
