The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cleared Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the former Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Bayelsa State, for the party’s House of Representatives primary election on May 12 for the 2023 National Assembly elections.

After a screening in Yenagoa, the state capital, the PDP committee led by Edward Pwajok cleared Iworiso-Markson to run for the party’s Ogbia Federal Constituency ticket.

Iworiso-Markson praised members of the party for a smooth, transparent, and peaceful exercise shortly after the event.
He also praised the party’s leadership for putting in place a mechanism to ensure that internal democracy remained a core tenet of its activities.

After passing the screening, the former commissioner stated that his focus would be on becoming the PDP’s presidential candidate, claiming that he had the necessary experience, networks, and contacts to bring a new type of representation.

Iworiso-Markson emphasised his New Deal manifesto by stating that he would work tirelessly to ensure that the people of Ogbia were given pride of place as the first area where commercial quantities of oil were discovered.

“It was a painless process,” he said. It went well and was well worth the wait. I want to express my gratitude to the members of the committee for their excellent work. All of our documents were thoroughly examined.

“Let me also express my gratitude to our party’s leadership for their unwavering commitment to ensuring that internal democracy remains a central feature of our activities. This, of course, distinguishes us from other political parties.

“Right now, I’m going to concentrate on the primaries.” I’d like to take this opportunity to ask our delegates to consider me. I promised to make a difference with the New Deal, and I will not let you down.”
