2023: You’re not presidential material – Ohanaeze attacks Kwankwaso over Peter Obi

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has stated that former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso is not a presidential candidate.

Ohanaeze’s National Publicity Secretary, Alex Ogbonnia, was responding to a remark made by the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.

Kwankwaso previously stated that the Southeast was too politically immature to produce Nigeria’s President in 2023.

He stated that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, would have to be his running mate and not the other way around.

Condemning Kwankwaso’s remark, Ogbonnia said the NNPP presidential candidate lacked the ability to assess the Igbos.

He insisted that the Igbos had long been prepared to produce Nigeria’s presidency.

In a statement, Ogbonnia stated that anyone who has done well in business and has lived in other parts of the country can rule Nigeria.

The organization’s scribe maintained that an Igbo president would perform better because they understand the country.

Nigerians, he says, should not doubt the Igbo nation’s ability to rule Nigeria if given the chance.

He stated, “Kwankwaso’s description is unfortunate.” He is unfamiliar with Igbo and lacks the ability to assess its people. Such a remark is uncharacteristic of a presidential candidate.

“As far as I know, Igbo have been the pillar that has helped this country survive thus far.” He should understand that any person who can succeed in business and live in any part of the country can be president.

“Kwankwaso cannot be said to be the best material the country can have when discussing presidential issues.” Except for our parochial nature and the type of politics we have in Nigeria, I do not believe our competence should be questioned at any time.”
