Bayelsa State Police Command has detained a 34-year-old man, Okpegboro Avwerosuo, who murdered his roommate, dismembered the body and sold the very important organs to a priest for ritual functions.
It was gathered that the incident happened at Mile 2 Sagbama Town, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State during the weekend.
The defendant, who hails from Ughelli North, Delta State, had encouraged the deceased to return to Sagbama to combine the motorcycling business and promised him that the company is flourishing due to the Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro College of Education (IJBCOE) sited in the area.
In accordance with a neighbour who spoke to Nigerian Tribune, when the deceased arrived in town, he had not stayed for more than two months when Okpegboro struck him using a mortar pestle in the middle of the night, crushing his skull and killing him in the process.

“After killing him, he dismembered the body, maintained the very important organs and set the other elements in separate sacks which he disposed of in the wee hours of the next day. While he had been disposing of the sacks, another neighbour who saw him and suspected his moves confronted him later in the day about the whereabouts of his roommate,” the neighbour narrated.
“The defendant claimed that the deceased had hauled back to Delta State to an urgent industry. Not satisfied with his reply, the neighbour forced his way to the area and saw bloodstains everywhere. The neighbour held him down and alerted the neighbourhood vigilante which finally called the police in to arrest the defendant
“Upon interrogation, before he had been handed over to the authorities, the suspect confessed that he had sold the very important organs of his friend to a pastor in Port Harcourt who is currently at large for ritual purposes.”
