Abuja security guard bags nine months’ imprisonment for stealing iron rod

Barnabas Yakubu, 27, was sentenced to nine months in prison by the ADei-Dei Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja on Tuesday for stealing iron rods worth N330,000.

Mr Yakubu of Dawaki, Abuja, was sentenced on a single count of theft, to which he pleaded guilty and begged the court for mercy.

Sulyman Ola, the Judge, however, gave Mr Yakubu the option of a N30,000 fine and warned him to be of good behaviour.

The convict committed the crime on July 13, according to prosecutor Chinedu Ogada.

Mr Ogada stated that the complainant, Ike Ifeanyi of Apo Resettlement, Apo, Abuja, reported the incident on July 13 at Dawaki Police Station.
