Barr. Maurice Ebam, National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress, resigned his membership with around 50,000 loyalists on Thursday.
Ebam’s resignation comes three weeks after the party’s presidential candidate, Kingsley Moghalu, resigned over alleged poor handling of the Abeokuta primary elections.
According to a letter provided to our correspondent and addressed to the party’s National Chairman, Ebam stated that the party served as a training ground for him.
“The ADC DNA is in my system,” said the letter. ADC has served as a training ground for me. I not only served, but I also learned. It is a platform that has provided opportunities to young people who are willing to serve, and I was one of them. It is well documented, and posterity will attest to it.” I resign from ADC with mixed emotions. I willingly and selflessly sacrificed my time and resources, and even put my career on hold, while serving as a member and youth leader for the cause of nation-building with ADC as the platform. Now it’s time to help build a nation, albeit on a different platform.”

Ebam stated that he would leave the party with his foot soldiers and promised to provide relevant assistance.
“I have gathered over 50,000 passionate, organic, and dedicated grassroot youths who will be moving with me as a result of my consultation with youths from various strata and youth movements, and we have all unanimously concluded that leaving ADC is the best option at this time.”
“This is not a farewell letter; I will be available to help to the best of my ability when called upon.” “Please accept my best wishes,” Ebam added.
