The Zamfara State House of Assembly has passed a bill outlawing all banditry-related offences in the state and mandating the death penalty.
On June 28, 2022, the bill was approved by the House of Assembly, it was discovered.
According to the report, the bill calls for the punishment of informants as well as all those responsible for kidnapping, cattle rustling, and banditry in the unrest-plagued state.

The legislators proposed a new law that would mandate public hanging for informants who support terrorists.
“Today, the governor is going to sign into law the death penalty for kidnappers, informants, and any other banditry-related issues,” said Abdullahi Shinkafi, the special adviser on intergovernmental affairs to the governor of Zamfara, regarding the passage of the bill.
The death penalty for kidnappers, informants, and contributors was passed into law by the Zamfara house of assembly yesterday.
