Breaking: Court sentences Baba Ijesha to 16 years in prison for alleged rape

Olanrewaju James, aka Baba Ijesha, a troubled Nollywood actor, was found guilty on Thursday of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old minor by an Ikeja Special Offenses Court.

Since Baba Ijesha’s arrest and arraignment in June 2021, the rape trial has lasted more than a year.

Baba Ijesha has been embroiled in a messy rape trial since April 22, 2022 for allegedly assaulting Princess’ foster daughter, who is 14 years old.

In a two-hour ruling on Thursday, the judge, Oluwatoyin Taiwo, found Baba Ijesha guilty of indecently treating a child, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault.

She then gave him a concurrent 16-year prison sentence.

However, Mrs. Taiwo cleared him of counts one and six, which were sexual penetration assault and attempted sexual penetration assault.

The case had been put on hold for the outlaw’s sentencing for a short while when this report was submitted.

Indecent treatment and sexual assault of a minor between 2013 and 2014 were both found to be Baba Ijesha’s fault.

The prosecution’s successful proof of counts two and four—that he indecently sat her on his lap and inappropriately touched her body—was found by the court.

He was found guilty of four other offences as well.

Seven years later, he was accused of rubbing the same minor’s body and sucking her fingers while sexually assaulting her.

However, the judge acquitted him of count one, which involved the alleged penetration of the minor with his car key seven years earlier.

The court also ruled that count 6, in which he was charged with attempting a sexual assault by penetration during a subsequent encounter with the minor in April 2021, was unfounded.

The trial continues.
