Breaking: Kidnappers of Methodist prelate demand ransom of N100 million, church is asking for donations

The gunmen have demanded N100 million in ransom less than 24 hours after kidnapping the Methodist Church’s Prelate, His Eminence Samuel Kanu-Uche, and two other clerics.

In a statement to the press on Monday, the Conference Secretary, the Rt. Revd. Michael Akinwale, confirmed the demand.
He urged all parishioners to come forward and help raise the N100 million ransom.
The following are the account details released by the secretary: “Name: Methodist Church Nigeria.
2000041229 is the account number.
“First Bank,” says the bank.

Part of the statement reads:

“The shocking news of our Prelate, the Bishop of Owerri, and the Prelate’s Chaplain being kidnapped has shocked everyone.”

This is a time of testing, and the Church must proclaim that “The Lord Who Answereth by Fire” must be our God in order to destroy the adversary’s deceptions.
“Let us all get up and pray to the Lord!”
This serves to inform you that the abductors have demanded a ransom of N100 million as we engage in Prayer Warfare.
“Given the urgency of the situation and the critical need to arrest it for the safety of our Prelate and other abductees, it has become necessary to seek your URGENT RESPONSE to raise the N100 million ransom.”
“The safety of the Prelate and other abductees must be a top priority for everyone, and your spiritual and financial contributions will not go unnoticed.”
