As momentum for the 2023 general election builds, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, has postponed the formal introduction of Senator Kashim Shettima, a former governor of Borno State, to the party’s top leadership.
Shettima was scheduled to be officially introduced at 1 o’clock today (Thursday) at the APC secretariat in Abuja, but it has been learned that the event has been postponed.
The decision, which was made amid controversy over the party’s selection of a Muslim-Muslim ticket, was not explained.
With one day remaining until the Independent National Electoral Commission’s deadline, there are rumours that Tinubu and the APC leadership may decide to withdraw Shettima from the race and choose a Northern Christian instead (INEC).
A new date is anticipated to be revealed later in the meantime.
There will be more.
