Buhari has signed 19 of 131 bills in three years

An investigation has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has signed 19 of the 131 Senate bills passed in the last three years.

On June 10, the upper chamber, which was inaugurated on June 11, 2019, will reach its three-year mark. The Senate introduced 976 bills from its inception until March 23, 2022, according to a document seen by our correspondent in Abuja.
Approximately 27 of the 976 bills introduced on the Senate floor during this time were sponsored by the executive branch, while the rest were introduced by members.
Executive Bills, Member’s Bills, and Private Bills are the three types of bills, according to Senate Standing Orders 2015 (as amended) order 76 (a, b, and c).
Aside from the Appropriation Bills for 2020, 2021, and 2022, the Executive has also sponsored the Finance Bill 2019 (Nigeria Tax and Fiscal Law), which was introduced on November 5, 2019, and passed on November 21, 2019.

The Executive also sponsored the Companies and Allied Matters Act, Cap C20 LFN 2004 (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill 2019, the Finance Act (Amendment) Bill 2020, the Petroleum Industry Bill 2020, which was introduced on September 30, 2020, and passed on July 1, 2021, the Proceed of Crime Bill 2020, the Harmonised Retirement Age for Teachers in Nigeria Bill 2021, the Copyright Act Cap C28 LFN 2004 (Amendment) Bill 2021, and the National Metallurgical Training Institute

The Explosive Act (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill 2021, as well as the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons Bill 2021, are two other Executive Bills.
