Children’s Day: Nasarawa Speaker Advocates more collaborative efforts to terminate Child Labour, Out-Of-School Children

The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Balarabe Abdullahi, has advocated for more collaborative efforts to terminate the number of out-of-school kids, child labour, and the other types of violence against children in today’s society.

The Speaker also called for the provision of quality education for children in order to create a brighter future for them and also develop a better society for all.

The statement describes children as special gifts from God, hence the requirement for parents, guardians, and the authority’s concern to make certain that the Nigerian child is given all the necessary support throughout love, education, and moral instruction to build an egalitarian society.

The Speaker lamented the growing rate of out-of-school children, child labour, street hawking, and begging in addition to all forms of violence against children and highlighted the need for collective responsibilities to tackle the menace.

He also condemned violence against kids, calling for all hands to be on deck to address the problem.

“We will continue to make laws that will protect the right of children in the state.

“If parents, stakeholders among other individuals and teams join hands with the government in tackling child abuse, child labour, and violence against children in the country, it would go a long way in promoting peace and societal development” he explained.

He has also described education as the best instrument to fight poverty and other societal vices thus the requirement for parents to give topmost priority to the education of their kids as a lasting heritage.

The speaker reiterated the state assembly’s commitment to continue to support some government policies and programs in addition to make laws that could protect the right of kids and improved their lots from society.
