Commotion as police teargas ‘Obidients in Ebonyi’, disperse rally

There is a scuffle in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, where supporters of Labour Party leader Peter Obi gathered Saturday morning for their one-million-man march.

It was learned that Obi’s supporters, dubbed ‘Obidients,’ were supposed to leave from the People’s Club area, but some thugs allegedly working for another party in the state stormed the rally venue.

According to a source, the police also intervened, threw tear gas canisters, and dispersed the rally.

The police officers were accused of claiming that their actions were mandated by the Ebonyi State Government.

In a viral video, the youths can be seen running in different directions, with smoke billowing from the teargas.

However, it was gathered that the Obidients have regrouped at the Mile 50 area of the State from where they are going ahead with the rally.
