Danish Peter Nielsen To Die By Hanging Over Murder Of Wife, Daughter

Peter Nielsen was sentenced to death by hanging by a Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) on Friday for killing his Nigerian wife and daughter.

“I hereby sentence you, Peter Nielsen, to be hung by the neck until you die. Nielsen was convicted of counts one and two of murder on Friday by Justice Bolanle Okikiolu-Ighile. The judge added, “May God have mercy on you.”
The judge determined that the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Nielsen, 54, was accused of murdering his Nigerian singer wife Zainab and their 3.5-year-old daughter Petra on April 5, 2018.

He was arraigned on two counts of murder under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, on June 13, 2018.

The Lagos Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Kazeem Adeniji, testified in court that Nielsen murdered both Zainab, his wife, and Petra, their daughter, at approximately 3:45 a.m. on February 4, 2016 at Flat 17, Bella Vista Tower, Banana Island, Ikoyi.

Justice Okikiolu-Ighile had set aside the date of May 6, 2022, to render a verdict following proceedings on March 1, 2022, when the court heard arguments and accepted the prosecution’s and defense’s final written addresses.

However, court officials informed journalists that the verdict was not yet ready, and adjourned the case until today, May 20.
