Disregard letter reinstating Okorocha’s ally, Nwafor – Imo APC

The All Progressives Congress, or APC, in Imo State has urged party supporters in the State to ignore a fictitious letter that surfaced online and purported to reinstate Dan Nwafor, a member of the political family of Senator Rochas Okorocha, as the State Party Chairman.

This was stated by the state’s ruling APC in a statement that was signed by Cajethan Duke, the APC’s publicity secretary.

Dan Nwafor and his allies will remain where they are in the Imo APC’s history, the party added.

The party claimed that “such irritating falsehood and misleading publication did not emanate from the national Secretariat of our party.”

Recall that a letter from Sen. Lyiola Omisore, dated June 21, 2022, reinstating Okorocha’s ally Dan Nwafor under the title “Reinstatement of The Daniel Nwafor Led Executive,” caused controversy in the State.

The letter’s opening line reads, “I write to convey the decision of the Party leadership to comply with the Supreme Court ruling on the case between APC vs. Evan Enwerem & 2 Others (SC/CV/884/2020), which ordered for the reinstatement of Daniel Nwafor-led Executives of the Party in imo State.

By this development, you are ordered to take control of the Party Secretariat and oversee all Party activities in the State as the Chairman until the end of your term on July 31, 2022.

The letter was also copied to the Inspector General of Police, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Imo State, and the Commissioner of Police of Imo State.

The APC spokesman in Imo State responded, saying, “The said letter is not only fake and misleading, but it is also a dramatised case of forgery masterminded by an unintelligent desperado.

It is important to note that Dan Nwafor and his fellow travellers receive no recognition or legitimacy from the majority ruling issued by the Supreme Court on Friday, May 27, 2022, in the case between the APC and Evans Enwerem and two other parties (SC/CV/884/2020). The verdict is still unmistakable and clear.

If it weren’t for the poorly thought out “oluwale” product that Senator Rochas Okorocha’s political family is known for, the national leadership of the party, specifically the NWC, could not have written a letter of this magnitude through an unidentified proxy.

“Our party has an official channel for all authorised and official information and communication.”
