Eight apprehended with human head in Osun town

Members of a vigilante religious group in Iwo, Osun State, arrested a man named Afolabi Jacob on Wednesday.

The Taawun Security, Al-Jayshu Islam detained Afolabi in the wee hours of Wednesday while conducting a routine security patrol in the town’s Yemoja neighbourhood.

Afolabi Jacob admitted, according to a report from Jamaatu Taawunil Muslimeen, that the human head that was discovered on him was intended to be sold to a friend of his.

Eight members of Afolabi’s group were also detained and given to the Osun State Police Command, Osogbo, during a security search, Jamaatu Taawunil Muslimeen further disclosed.

The vigilante group claimed that the suspects had admitted to committing numerous human sacrifices and that they had also previously committed other crimes.

In the interim, the arrests have been confirmed by the Osun State Police Command.

The suspects have been transferred to the state Police Command, according to the Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, who spoke with this reporter in a chat.

The anti-kidnapping unit of the Command has been briefed on the situation, she said, and an investigation has already started.
