Evans gets new lawyer in trial for attempted kidnap of Young Shall Grow boss

Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike a.k.a. Evans has obtained new legal representation following an order from an Ikeja Special Offences Court.

He is on trial with Joseph Emeka for allegedly attempting to kidnap Vincent Obianodo, Chairman of Young Shall Grow Motors.

On Friday, Evans’ co-defendant in another case, Emmanuel Ochai, held a brief for Chuks Muoma (SAN), the new counsel.

Evans was ordered by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo on March 11 to hire a lawyer before the next court date or prepare to defend himself.

On March 11, one of the co-defendants, Frank Udeme, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to selling firearms to Evans.

Evans and Emeka allegedly killed Ngozi Chijioke on August 27, 2013, at Third Avenue in Festac Town, Lagos, according to the prosecution.

On the same day, they were accused of attempting to kidnap and kill Obianodo.

The defendants entered not guilty pleas to a seven-count murder and attempted murder charge.

Others include kidnapping conspiracy and attempted kidnapping, as well as the sale and transfer of firearms.

The case was adjourned until June 15 for trial by Justice Taiwo.
