Ex-Imo Deputy Governor demands thorough investigation into alleged killings of 14 youths

Eze Madumere, an ex-deputy governor of Imo state, demanded an independent investigation on Tuesday into the last Sunday attack by individuals thought to be associated with the Ebubeagu security group, in which no less than fourteen youths were allegedly assaulted, seven of whom were reportedly killed, and numerous others seriously injured.

Through his media assistant, Uche Onwuchekwa, Madumere called the Owerri-based journalists.

While travelling from Awo-Omamma in Oru East LGA to Otulu in Oru West LGA in the state after attending a traditional wedding ceremony, the youths were attacked.

“While we commend the Governor for his resolute stance in maintaining Imo State’s safety, the sordid happenings and Alleged Killings directed at the young people of Imo West Senatorial zone must be condemned in its entirety,” the statement reads.

“We demand a third-party investigation into a few of the reported enigmatic killings. While some families have been completely destroyed, others have sustained permanent harm. The majority of these people are allegedly free of any gangsterism, banditry, or other criminal activity. I’ll propose that some of the killings should be investigated by “Forensic Experts.”

“I have always advocated the use of crisis resolution techniques to address some of these security issues. We’ve tried it before and had great success. Strategies like the carrot-and-stick approach are employed, and if we keep quiet out of political correctness, then everything is wrong.

Prince Madumere also urged Governor Uzodimma to reconsider the tactics used by the state government-sponsored “Ebubeagu” in order to prevent eradicating those who would keep Imo as a State alive.
