A project expenditure refund to Yobe State and contracts across ministries totaling N52,203,698535 have been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The week’s virtual FEC meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was made public to State House Correspondents afterward.
The revised cost for building the Yola-Hong-Mubi Road, which was set at N29,826,449,000, and the approval for a refund of N18,663,843,109 to Yobe State for work done on federal roads and bridges were approved by the Ministry of Works and Housing, according to Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed.

The two memos that the Honorable Minister of Works and Housing also wrote were accepted. The first is a memo from the Minister asking the Council to approve the revised estimated total cost of the contract award for the rehabilitation of the Yola-Hong-Mubi Road in Adamawa State for the sum of N29,826,449,000 billion, bringing the original contract’s original price from N21,841,578,000 to N51,668,027,000. The most recent memo from the honourable minister of works and housing asked the council to approve the reimbursement of the funds that the Yobe State government was recommended to receive as a refund. The government of Yobe State is requesting N18,663,843,109 as compensation for five federal roads that it has built or renovated, he said.

The Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) presented one of the memoranda on behalf of the parastatal, with the goal of digitising it and developing the eNSITF platform to combat the threat of fraudulent practises in the system, according to Minister of Labor and Productivity Chris Ngige.

The topic of the second memo is employment and job creation. It’s a portal called Nigerian Labour Exchange (NILEX), and it’s housed in my ministry, but over time, because it hasn’t been developed, the portal has gotten so small that it can’t handle the stress of the number of people trying to get into it. That digital platform is meant to be used by employers and job seekers, respectively.
“Employers will come in and load the vacancy they have, the type of skill they want, and the qualifications of people that can fit there,” he said.
