Governor, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has pledged that nobody could rename any region of the state.

The Governor stated this while creating a veiled reference to the actions of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) from the nation.

The Governor called on Tiv individuals to continue to live peacefully with people in the host communities.

Wike noted the Tivs haven’t caused any problem in Rivers State although they’re warriors, and quite powerful.

“Rivers State is an area that’s extremely accommodating. We take everyone to remain with us peacefully. It’s only people who wish to rename Rivers State I have stated, I won’t agree.

“nobody can rename Rivers State. According to living peacefully, we’ve got a great relationship with ethnic nationalities that live in Rivers State.”
