Gunmen Kidnap, Behead Ex-Anambra Lawmaker Nelson Achukwu

Former Anambra State legislator Nelson Achukwu has been beheaded by gunmen. Days after being abducted, his relatives discovered and recognised the physically challenged man’s headless body.

The headless remains of the deceased Achukwu were discovered at the border between the Uke and Ukpor axis of the state, according to Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, the police public relations officer.

On June 9, at around 10:15 p.m., the victim was kidnapped in his home, according to him, and rescue efforts were underway when his body was discovered without a head.

The command would use all of its resources to find and apprehend the criminals, Mr. Ikenga assured while stating that an investigation was still ongoing.

According to the evidence, the family members buried the headless body right away on Tuesday because it was starting to decay.

Businessman and former Anambra State House of Assembly member Achukwu was kidnapped by assailants a few months ago; he was later freed after paying a N15 million ransom. On June 9, he was taken again, and it’s still unclear why he was killed after his second kidnapping.

Following the kidnapping and beheading of Mr. Okechukwu Okoye, the state assemblyman for Aguata II State Constituency, by his kidnappers last month, his death comes after other similarly horrific murders in Anambra State.
