Gunmen kill guard, burn gas station in Ondo

Unknown gunmen assassinated Mr. Sunday, a security guard at the Titolu Venture filling station in Igoba, Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State.

The hoodlums set fire to the filling station after killing the security guard, according to reports.

The incident was said to have sparked panic in the surrounding area.

According to the station’s manager, Ajisafe Oluwatobiloba, he was notified about the fire incident around 4:00 a.m. on Monday and was unable to identify the perpetrators.

“At about 4 a.m., I was called by one of the residents, and when we arrived, we saw the station burning, so we called the fire department, and they came to put out the fire, not knowing the perpetrators had killed our security guard,” he explained.

We saw where the guard was tied and killed while trying to figure out what caused the fire. We also saw the arsonist’s keg filled with petrol, which must have been used to wet the station before setting it on fire.”
According to reports, men from the Nigerian police force deposited the guard’s body in a mortuary.

When contacted, Mrs. Funmi Odunlami, the state’s police image maker, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation was underway to determine what caused the incident.
