In new attack, bandits kill four people and injure several others in Benue community

On Tuesday night, gunmen suspected of being bandits raided Ayilamo community in Benue State’s Logo Local Government Area, killing four people and injuring numerous others.

According to a community source, Paul Akase, who claimed to have miraculously escaped, the gunmen attacked the neighbourhood and began firing indiscriminately while everyone was fast sleeping.

“They came in big numbers and began shooting randomly.

“When people who were fast asleep awoke, they were confused.

“They began fleeing for their lives; stray gunfire struck several of them,” he explained.

Vaachia Hangeior, Abako Kpeibee, Mtomga Akpi, and David Akave were the four victims, according to a community leader who requested anonymity.

When approached for confirmation of the event, the State Police spokesman, SP Catherine Anene, did not pick up her phone.
