Insecurity: Group warns Fani-Kayode over inflammatory video, commends military for defending democracy

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), a non-partisan pro-democracy organisation, has warned former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, against making inflammatory and unguarded remarks that could exacerbate the country’s security challenges.
The group also warned that such unwarranted remarks could lead to dissatisfaction among military rank and file.
The NDA also warned that such remarks could exacerbate political tensions as the country prepares for general elections in 2023.

Fani-Kayode recently blamed the military for the country’s insecurity.

“Our young soldiers and junior officers fighting in the killing fields are doing their best as well,” he said, “but why are our senior officers and military commanders so incompetent and weak?” Isn’t there more to this than meets the eye?

“It is becoming increasingly difficult to comprehend the obvious incompetence and lack of patriotism, professionalism, diligence, and courage displayed by the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces.”

According to a press release issued by the National Democratic Alliance on Saturday, Fani-Kayode and his cohorts are frustrated by the loyalty and total submission to constituted authority that has now become the hallmark of the Armed Forces of Nigeria under Gen. LEO Irabor.

According to a press release signed by the NDA’s Secretary, Biodun Olajumoke, rather than offering a solution to the security challenges, Fani-video Kayode’s “smacks of deliberate efforts to cause more confusion and heighten tension in the polity.”

“FFK and his likes who are in the habit of jumping from one party to the next are indeed the real culprits who want to suffocate our nascent democracy,” said the NDA.

“Is FFK unaware that political tension is one of the causes of security challenges?” Instead of staying in one place and stabilising the country, they change parties like wrappers, causing political tension in the country and later blaming the military.

“What are his motivations in attempting to incite our young soldiers and junior officers against the AFN leadership?”

“Perhaps they are angry that the Armed Forces have remained loyal to the Constitution and President Muhammadu Buhari.”

“We, the NDA, urge FFK and his group to offer genuine solutions to the crisis.” Our military, both young soldiers, junior officers, and senior officers, have been victims of security challenges. What we need now is to help them defeat the country’s enemies rather than condemn or incite them against each other,” the NDA added.
