Kwara fire service boss resisted attack on firefighters during rescue operation of a suspected cultist mission

The Director, Kwara State fire service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, has resisted the Friday attack on firefighters during the rescue operation of a suspected cultist who dived to a river close to the scene of arrest in Ilorin, leading to his departure.

It was reported that the unhappy event took place on Friday at Surulere/Baboko region of Ilorin, the country capital.

The two firefighters who sustained serious injuries during the attack were identified as Muhammed Alabi and Rafiu Yahaya.

An announcement by the spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle in Ilorin, stated” The fire service responded to a rescue call at about 11:15 am on Friday.

” Instantly the victim was recovered in the river died, the firefighters were attacked with clubs and harmful weapons which led to two sustaining distinct degrees of injuries,” the statement added.

The country director expressed despair over the incessant attack on firefighters in the state each time they respond to emergency calls.

He appealed to community and traditional leaders from the state to take responsibility for teaching and warning their people on the need to halt the dastardly act of assaulting firefighters on duty.

It was recalled that a guessed cultist dived to a river in Ilorin to evade police arrest on Friday, which led to a protest by his gang members.

They supposedly blocked the road and disrupted the free flow of traffic in the region.

The dead defendant, reportedly jumped out of the police car while being hauled into the police station after his arrest and dived into the lake.
