Kwara police rescue kidnapped Chinese expat and apprehend ritualist with human skull

The Kwara state police command said Friday that it had rescued a Chinese expatriate who had been kidnapped by unknown gumen in Shao, moro local government area of Kwara state.

On 3/7/2022, unknown gunmen attacked a quarry site of CGC construction company along the Shao/Oloru express way, killing a police inspector on guard and kidnapping a Chinese expatriate.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Okasanmi Ajayi, said in a statement Friday that the abductors abandoned the victim and fled due to intense pressure from the command’s rescue team.

“The pressure applied to the kidnappers by the rescue teams became so intense that the criminals could no longer withstand it, forcing them to abandon the victim and flee for their lives.”

“Police officers and tactical teams assigned to the operation are still working in the bushes to apprehend criminals and bring them to justice.”

“Meanwhile, the rescued Chinese citizen is currently undergoing medical examination to determine his state of health prior to his reunion with his family,” he said.

In a related development, Ajayi stated that police operatives acting on actionable intelligence apprehended a suspected ritualist, Ibraheem Hamzat, who was in possession of a human skull and animal heads.

“Acting on actionable intelligence, eagle-eyed operatives attached to the Kwara state police command apprehended some suspected ritualists whose stock in trade is buying, trading, and trafficking in human body parts who couriered a human skull from Lagos State into Ilorin and headed to Balogun Fulani motor park, Ilorin.”

“Based on the information, the team apprehended one Ibrahim Hamza’m’, 41, of Orisunbare, Okolowo, Ilorin, who had previously received the package from the motor park.” A human skull hidden in a carton with his name and phone number inscribed on it was discovered during a discreet search of him.

“A preliminary investigation into the matter revealed that the suspect actually obtained the human skull, horse head, chimpanzee head, and other items recovered in his house, which he confessed he intended to use for money making rituals.”

“The commissioner of police, CP Tuesday Assayomo psc(+), who commended the detectives for their efforts, admonished the investigating team to ensure that the suspect’s remaining accomplices are apprehended and prosecuted.”

“The CP reiterated his determination to ensure that criminal elements do not find refuge in Kwara state.”

“He enjoined transport unions in the state to always cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the onerous task of getting rid of crimes and criminality in the state,” he said.
