The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly informed President Muhammadu Buhari that the All Progressives Congress (APCdecision )’s to run a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket will destabilise Nigeria.
According to reports, the warning was contained in a classified report recently sent to President Buhari by the agency.
“To put it simply, we believe the alliance will destabilise Nigeria and embolden attacks on Christian citizens by Muslim neighbours.”
“The distrust Christians are likely to harbour against a presidency occupied by two Muslims will not make our work easy at the national security level,” Peoples Gazette quoted a source familiar with the report’s details as saying.
Meanwhile, Professor Doknan Sheni, the leader of the APC’s Christian members in the 19 northern states, explained yesterday why they were opposed to Bola Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket for the 2023 election.
Professor Sheni, who expressed regret that some Northern APC governors persuaded Tinubu to run on the same faith ticket, said the development could cost the party the presidency and other positions across the country.
