The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has stated it will use the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)’s database to trace drug barons and traffickers anywhere in the world.
The Chairman/Chief Executive of the agency, Brig-Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), stated this on Monday in Abuja during a courtesy visit to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammed Babandede.
After a tour of the NIS database facility, Marwa commended Babandede for deploying modern technology and state of the art gear to maintain huge information for the usage of the nation’s intelligence and law enforcement community.
“No doubt, the Nigeria Immigration Service database will be of immense use to us in NDLEA in our efforts to track drug barons and traffickers wherever they may be hiding across the world.

“We’ll take advantage of the new technology deployed by the NIS now that the NDLEA is on top of its game,” Marwa stated in a statement by the NDLEA spokesman, Mr. Femi Babafemi.
He recommended the NIS Comptroller General for introducing a drug integrity test to the service, including that the company will proceed to push for other government agencies and political office seekers among others to adopt the same.
Responding, the NIS boss commended Marwa for his achievements as far as the helmsman of the NDLEA.
“We have no doubt that you will excel like you have executed in previous national assignments and we’re ready to work with you.
“On the drug integrity take a look at, we’ll just like the NDLEA positioned to conduct drug tests for the navy and other law enforcement agencies,” Babandede stated.
He stated it isn’t sufficient to send those caught with drugs to jail, however that membership of any drug cartel must equally be regarded and treated with a similar measure.
