Senator representing Ekiti South, Mrs. Biodun Olujimi, has condemned the killings of six persons in a cult clash at Ikere-Ekiti, Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
She spoke just as the Police Command stated 34 more suspects have been arrested in connection with Sunday’s bloody violence in the town.
Olujimi mentioned hooliganism and cultism shouldn’t be a way of life and must be discouraged.
In a statement she personally signed in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain described the incident as condemnable, unacceptable and alien to the behavioural pattern of peace-loving folks of Ekiti State.
Olujimi mentioned the killings had been worrisome, calling on security agencies to fish out the masterminds of the killings and ensure they face the full wrath of the legislation.
She urged security agencies to beef up security in the state, most particularly in flashpoints to stop the reoccurrence of such incidents, saying security is non-negotiable and should be assured.

Ekiti police spokesman, ASP Sunday Abutu, stated the mixed team of security agencies drafted to the town had been in a position to restore peace to the town, while street patrol continues.
Abutu said 34 more suspects have been arrested making the total variety of individuals in police custody over the incident 45.
He said serious efforts are still ongoing to arrest other accomplices, unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring perpetrators to face the iron hand of the legislation.
